I’ve been looking for a reliable sander to use within my home. I’ve done a lot of woodwork, and my last cheap sander burnt out (again!). Since I needed a new sander, I decided to go out on a whim and purchase the Corded 3 Amp 5-Inch Random Orbit Sander with Cloth Dust Bag. I can say, with confidence, this is definitely worth, with low shipping prices. This product is really a bargain!
It’s 3 AMP, 12000 OPM motor is excellent, it has plenty of power to fulfill all of your tasks. The dust-sealed switch is also great! I can safely say that this sander is going to last a while, without breaking. The ergonomic design of the product is of utmost quality, I have worked with it for more than 6 hours at a time, and it is terrific. I can’t express through words how much this sander has improved my workability!

The Dust Bag
The dust bag is also fantastic. My garage is much tidier and dust-free since getting this excellent piece of engineering. I would still recommend wearing safety glasses and a dust mask just to be on the safe side. However, I have run this unit for hours and hours non-stop, and it doesn’t skip a beat. It just keeps going and going. The paper is a tad costly, however, make sure you get the one with 8 dust holes, (some only have 4 dust holes.)
The Paper/Sanding Discs
When sanding down and old wardrobe to prefer it for re-painting, I started with 120 grit paper and then moved onto 220 grit to finish. This provided a smooth product. Some sanders slowly wear down your hands until you have to stop. This DEWALT sander is nothing like that. However, the sheets of paper for this are rather costly. However – all sanding sheets for orbitals are roughly the same price, for the best bargain buy them in packs of 25 sheets.
Overall Build Quality
The vibration is excellently balanced. Since owning one, I have sanded down twenty-two bedside cabinets, along with twelve sets of drawers, and a few wardrobes. This thing still has not broken; after years of continued abuse, it just keeps pulling. As I mentioned earlier, the ergonomic design is simply beautiful. Overall, I am ecstatic about this product. It just seems too good to be true for the price.

I have seen in many other reviews that some people complain about the amount of dust that orbitals create. However, I didn’t find this too much of a problem. Of course, every sander is going to leave dust around after sanding, but this one was probably the best I have used, there wasn’t much dust left after using for 3 hours straight, compared to some orbital sanders where you’d be surrounded by dust after sanding for 10 minutes… This product really is the best in its price range.
The sheer build quality is wonderful, alongside the engineering expertise that DeWalt has, this makes for an excellent product. I have not had to purchase another sander since 2008. Many of the customers share the same view regarding this sander.
