In my opinion, the Hitachi C12FDH is a great tool; the adjustable laser guidance system works well and is bright enough for use regardless of the weather/lighting conditions. I found the usage of the tool highly intuitive, and I believe this tool is a great choice for beginners and industry professionals alike.
It has a healthy selection of features, all aiding the user to create the perfect, precise cut. Overall, Hitachi has done a great job on this.
Laser Guidance System
The laser guidance system included with the Hitachi C12FDH is wonderful, unlike many other miter saws which have a fixed laser system; the Hitachi C12FDH includes an adjustable laser guidance system, allowing for you adjust the laser to the left and right, which is excellent, allowing for the user to optimize the tool according to their preferences.
The Hitachi C12FDH sports a competitive 1950W, 15 Amp motor – providing an abundance of power for any task you will ever throw at it, it will effortlessly slice through hardwoods like a hot knife through butter. The Motor also doesn’t displace too much heat towards to user, even after extended periods of use, which is a positive of the Hitachi C12FDH. Regardless of what you plan to do with this miter saw, it has enough power for all your needs and also is future proof, should you ever decide to delve into the world of denser materials.
The Hitachi C12FDH has an extremely attractive design, which is also highly ergonomic. It also sports the standard dark “bush” green and silver color scheme adopted by Hitachi. One element of the design stands out about this tool over the competition, the elastomer coating on the handle. This is a special rubber compound that is excellent at dampening the vibrations caused by the tool; it also aids fatigue and provides comfortable usage. I found the tool design intuitive, and extremely easy to use – while being amazingly comfortable to use as well, even for prolonged periods.
Included with the purchase of this tool is a 32 tooth blade, while this is amazing for rough cutting, I recommend a higher tooth blade for accurate work, as you will get a much better quality cut with a finer blade. However, the included blade is usually perfect for the standard consumer’s needs.
Dust Collection System: One thing I noted about this tool was how powerful the dust system is, it fills the bag almost effortlessly, which many tools won’t even after months of use. It will be even more efficient when connected to a shop vac.

The overall build quality of this tool is sheer excellence, as you would expect from a top tier manufacturer such as Hitachi. It is sturdy, and I found no problems regarding measurement issues, everything was perfectly calibrated. There is no wobble when moving the saw arm, which allows you to make the most precise cuts possible.
The abundance of features within the Hitachi C12FDH makes for a great, user-friendly experience, which consequently ends with a great cut every time. Regardless of what you plan to use this tool for, if you require accurate cuts – there is nothing better currently on the market. If accuracy is imperative for you, I recommend this over a sliding miter saw, as sliding miter saws tend to perform less accurate cuts due to the sliding mechanism.
For quick, accurate cuts – there is no better option than the Hitachi C12FDH.
